Objective:
Build and upload a personal web site to your web space on SignalFlare.

Content requirements:

• some biographical information including a way to contact you
• a place for your assignments and final exam project
• links & resources
• your learning objectives
• a list of 3-5 things you love about the web
• a list of 3-5 things you hate about the web
• a description/rationale for your site structure

Technical requirements:

• must be multiple pages
• can be as complex or as simple as you wish
• must use CSS

Students will also be required to do a brief presentation to the class explaining their design decisions for the assignment (use the rationale described above).

Objective:
Perform a critical analysis of a site that has, hypothetically, been slated for redesign.

Description:
In this assignment you will be required to provide an analysis of a site of your choice, paying close attention to usability heuristics/guidelines, navigation design guidelines and task completion. You'll be working on this site through the next assignment, so choose wisely! Choose a site from the following broad themes:

• Entertainment
• Health
• Education
• Commerce
• Technology

Your site should be fairly large and include transactional capabilities (forms) if possible. Don't worry, you won't have to code anything.

Requirements:

• Use the tools discussed in week two to evaluate at least one major section or process of your site (more is better).
• There are three different tools/checklists (and links to others) - use whatever variations works best to communicate the issues that you feel need improvement on your site of choice.
• Add your completed analysis to your personal web site created in assignment one (html, pdf, doc, etc.).
• Send a link to your analysis to your instructor via email.
• Keep in mind that, for assignment three, you will be proposing and designing solutions to the problems you identify now (see below).

Objective:
Create a set of wireframes and one design mockup showing suggested improvements to the web site you analyzed in assignment two.

Requirements:
Using the criteria you outlined in assignment two, create a set of wireframes that show the elements that would need to be included, changed or excluded to makes the site work better. Then, design one sample page mockup to show how those elements would be presented.

• 3 to 5 wireframes created with Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
• Each wireframe should have clear descriptions or rationales for the elements you are including.
• A link to the design mockup from the related wireframe.
• Add your completed analysis to your personal web site created in assignment one.
• Send a link to your analysis to your instructor via email.
